It’s been 6 weeks and one day since I last used shampoo or conditioner on my hair, or any product for that matter, and I wrote about choosing to go ‘no-poo’ HERE.
This picture was taken 5 days ago when I finally took my braids out. As you can see, despite the frizzy waves from the braids, which dropped out the next day after a shower, my hair looks great and is much thicker, which is a blessing.
The braids helped by disguising the greasy stages, only my fringe was on display, a litmus test of my progress. I only used water and a couple of diluted apple cider vinegar rinses, but they didn’t seem to contribute much.
And now, I’m free of products and happily showing my glorious locks and washing them with water only. That, and a really good brush once a day, plus wearing a silk cap overnight (honestly, once tried, difficult to stop using this, the difference is amazing).
All this feels like a part of an intuitive shift towards a more simple and pure way of living, along with thinning out possessions, cleaning up my diet and simplifying my wardrobe. I’ve also started to make my own pure and natural skin products rather than buying ones with a lot of unknown ingredients.
As far as my hair is concerned, I feel so pleased to have got to this point, something of an achievement. It feels like being in alignment with nature, in alignment with my body’s natural ways.
